Chip Baker, Linda Mosley not seeking re-election to Hamilton County School Board

Hamilton County School Board members Chip Baker and Linda Mosley will not be seeking further terms on the school board, WRCB has reported.

Baker, who represents District 2, is also executive director of Friends of the Festival, which oversees Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival. He was first elected to his post in 2000. 

Mosley, who represents District 7, said she was withdrawing to spend more time with her 6-month-old grandson. She was first elected to the school board in 2008.

Baker's withdrawal leaves Jonathan Welch of Signal Mountain as the only remaining candidate to have picked up papers from the Hamilton County Election Commission for the District 2 seat. The qualifying deadline for candidates is at noon today. 

Ralph Miller and Donna Horn have both qualified to run for the District 7 seat.

Along with Districts 2 and 7, two other school board seats will be in play this year.

The school board election is Aug. 2.
