Bela Fleck with the CSO
Award-winning and internationally recognized banjo player Bela Fleck is in Chattanooga this weekend to perform at the Tivoli Theatre with the CSO. He is the featured guest during tonight's final performance of the 2011-12 Masterworks season. The program is an original one that Fleck arranged himself and debuted in September with the Nashville Symphony. Fleck has been nominated for a Grammy 30 times and has won 14 times.

Chickamauga Lock paddle and kayak clinic
Preregistration is required for this event, so hurry to reserve your spot for this weekend's kayak and paddling tutorial on the North Chickamauga Creek at the confluence of the Tennessee River. All equipment and a guide are included, and the event is open to adults and kids 14 and up when accompanied by an adult.

Running of the Chihuahuas
Of the 160 dogs that have been entered, only one Chihuahua will be named the Fastest Chihuahua in Chattanooga at the annual Running of the Chihuahuas event presented by 96.5. Afternoon radio personality Brad Steiner organizes the event, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy.
When: Saturday, May 5, events begin at 3 p.m., race begins at 6 p.m.

Do the Derby ... Chattanooga Style with a Twist
This third annual event, which benefits Chattanooga's Kids on the Block, has a twist this year—in addition to the usual viewing of the Kentucky Derby on the Jumbotron at AT&T Field, local celebrities will race the field using stick horses, vying for the title of Chattanooga's Derby winner. The event also includes a red carpet, a string orchestra, live horses, celebrity impersonators and much more.
