The Creative Discovery Museum will be a part of the 2012 Riverbend Festival this year by participating in several festivities during the nine-day event.

On Friday, June 8 and Friday, June 15, science will come alive as Creative Discovery Museum showcases a liquid nitrogen demonstration on fire and ice on the Volkswagen stage at Riverbend. Each performance will begin at 7:15 p.m. and will feature “Lady Ice” and “Fire Man.” This show is both child- and family-friendly and will captivate members of the audience.

Later, the Creative Discovery Museum will welcome Sol Driven Train, a music group performing children’s songs, for part of Riverbend Unplugged. Sol Driven Train will perform on Saturday, June 9 at 2 p.m.

Described as a “band in motion,” Sol Driven Train released their first children’s album in 2005, titled “Tajar Tracks.” Since that time, the band has been a favorite with younger audiences at museums and festivals around the country.

Riverbend Unplugged will also bring radio host and Web DJ Dave Loftin of the Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl to the museum. DJ Dave will create a mix of “kindie” music (kid’s independent music) that will be played at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday during the week of June 11-15.

Creative Discovery Museum will once again partner with Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union at the Riverbend “beach,” offering enjoyment for children and families each night of the Riverbend Festival. Children will be able to play in the sand and learn more about the museum’s new summer exhibit, Tinkertoy: Build Your Imagination! A photo opportunity will be available for families, courtesy of WDEF News 12.

Riverbend Unplugged is included in paid admission to the museum. Riverbend beach activities and the fire and ice show are included in paid admission to the Riverbend Festival.
