A new restaurant opening on the North Shore will combine its owners' love of sweets with their love of savory sandwiches and other specialty creations.
Dipped Fresh, which will open in Coolidge Park Monday, will offer everything from hand-dipped, chocolate-covered fruit and ice cream bars to gourmet sandwiches, salads, soups, chili and more.
Dipped Fresh is located in Coolidge Park at 221 River St.
The business will be open during the week until dark.
Owner Cynthia Wood said neither she nor her business partner, Antonia Poland, has ever owned a business before, but they decided to take their passion for food to the Chattanooga community.
Wood said she thinks her new restaurant will fill a niche in Chattanooga and offer a variety of indulgent foods that can meet everyone's tastes for a reasonable price.
“Chocolate-covered strawberries were always a treat that Antonia enjoyed,” she said. “Unfortunately, getting them fresh was a real problem most of the time. Online ordering meant that by the time they got to you, they were usually soggy ... So she decided to research the market and see how she could come up with a place that was fresh, tasted great and was affordable.”
The restaurant will make the foods fresh and to order, and Wood said she looks forward to her restaurant being busy. The convenient North Shore location is also ideal for the market the business partners are hoping to reach.
"We are ecstatic about our opening. We are looking forward to being busy from open to close," Wood said. "We want people to enjoy the things we offer."
In addition to selling treats and meals, the restaurant will also feature the romance novel written by Wood, "Love Wins," which is set in Chattanooga.
