Job offers continue for Wacker, nearly 100 offers extended to students
Nearly 100 students at the Wacker Institute at Chattanooga State Community College have received conditional job offers from Wacker Polysilicon.
This week, another 13 students received offers from the company for chemical operator positions.
“We are invested in the Wacker Institute program because we are invested in the people who operate our plants,” said Dr. Konrad Bachhuber, vice president and site manager for Wacker Polysilicon North America. “These students will soon take responsible production roles at one of the world’s most advanced hyperpure polysilicon manufacturing plants.”
What: Public information sessions on careers with Wacker Polysilicon
When: From June 13 until Aug. 16, every Wednesday from 12-1 p.m.; every Thursday from 5-6 p.m.

What's included: An overview of Wacker and the Wacker Institute, a tour of the pilot plant and Wacker Institute facility, and an overview from Chattanooga State student services and engineering technology representatives
“Many of these students are a year away from obtaining their degrees,” said Dr. Erika Burk, human resources director for Wacker Polysilicon North America. “We want to express our commitment to them with these offers—they know a career is waiting for them once they graduate.”
Wacker Polysilicon plans to extend at least 50 more conditional job offers to students at the Wacker Institute for chemical operator positions. The next interviews will take place later this year. Students interested in receiving an offer are encouraged to enroll at the Wacker Institute for the fall semester.
An employment incentive of $3,000 will be given to this group of students upon hire. Eligible new hires will receive this incentive within their first 60 days of employment at Wacker.
The students who received these job offers from Wacker Polysilicon are currently enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Technology Program at the Wacker Institute. Their careers with Wacker Polysilicon North America will begin in August 2013.
The job offer is conditional upon a background check, drug screening, employment physical and 3.0 GPA. Students must obtain their degrees. Those interested in learning more about the Wacker Institute are encouraged to attend a public information session and tour at Chattanooga State. The information sessions will be held twice weekly beginning June 13.
The company continues to hire for a variety of positions outside of the Wacker Institute, with maintenance, electrical and mechanical positions opening up soon. All positions are posted here, and new positions are added daily.
