Dr. Kent Hutson was recently honored by RadCare for his excellence and dedication in radiology services.
Hutson, who is the head of the Radiology Department for Erlanger Health System and chair of radiology for the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, received the 2012 READ (Radiology Excellence and Dedication) Award from RadCare.
RadCare, which is Erlanger’s radiology services management company, is also the radiology services line of EmCare.
“From a leadership point of view, Dr. Hutson really exemplifies the qualities that we look for, both in a chair as well as in a general radiologist,” RadCare CEO Phil Heckendorn said. “He holds the esteem and respect of his colleagues within the department. I think he’s very well regarded among the medical staff.”
Hutson became a radiologist by way of an interest in computers, saying that his love for technology and gadgets is very similar to radiology. The latest technology in CT and MRI scans has changed the way radiologists practice medicine.
“The fun of working with high-tech equipment and the satisfaction of being able to help people are very rewarding,” Hutson said. “It’s good to be honored by your peers for the effort you put forth. For me, the READ Award is recognition of the last five years that I’ve really put into RadCare, Erlanger and UTCOM.”
“We established an awards program in order to recognize those physicians that really go above and beyond their job duties every day and provide an inspiration to others to do the same,” Todd Zimmerman, EmCare’s president, said. “Those people, by what they do every day, really elevate the organization.”
Each year, EmCare selects four outstanding clinicians as Physicians of the Year. The READ Award winners are selected through a nomination and voting process conducted by EmCare leadership. EmCare’s Physician of the Year program also includes singular recognition for AnesthesiaCare via the Ace Award, EmCare Hospital Medicine via the Summit Award and EmCare Emergency Medicine via the Commitment to Care Award.
