Sodexo and the Erlanger Health System Food and Nutrition Services recently held their annual "serv-a-thon" food drive and collected monetary and nonperishable items that totaled the equivalency of 10,668 pounds of food.

On May 24, Erlanger and Sodexo presented a check for $1,989.10 for the collected monetary donations and barrels of nonperishable food to Jen Ferking, coordinator of special events and food drives for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Food from the Sodexo/Erlanger drive will go toward the emergency food box program. The food box supplements the food stamp program and feeds a family of four for a week.  Each 55-pound box includes nutritionally sound items like protein, fiber, vegetables, fruit and dinner products.

Erlanger staff goes the distance to support Tour de Cure
Medical staff and other personnel from Erlanger Health System came together last month to show their support by raising funds for diabetes research and education in Chattanooga’s Tour de Cure.

Through their efforts, Erlanger’s team of 27 riders raised more than $5,600 and earned the second-place title for most raised funds for a corporate team.

The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 44 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  During this year’s event in Chattanooga, participants had the choice of riding in the 10-mile family ride or the 18-, 25-, 62- or 100-mile races.  Funds raised during Tour de Cure go to critical research to find a cure for diabetes, helping people who have diabetes live happier and healthier lives, education, awareness, advocacy and support.
