After repeated downplay and denial, the office of Sen. Bob Corker has confirmed what the senator and former Chattanooga mayor has been saying for weeks-he is not on the list of candidates being vetted for vice president by GOP candidate Mitt Romney.

According to a Knoxville News Sentinel report, Corker’s office said Wednesday that Romney’s campaign was not in talks with the senator.

Talk of Corker as a possible VP candidate arose this spring after a handful of speculative articles mentioned him as a possible choice. But whenever he was asked to comment on the possibility, Corker dismissed the notion.
