After a day off on Monday, the Lookouts stepped back onto AT&T Field Tuesday night and beat the Birmingham Barons, 5-3.
The game stretched into extra innings, tied at three. In the bottom of the 10th, designated hitter Kyle Russell hit a two-run home run, bringing in Rafael Ynoa with a walk-off drive over the right-field fence.
Russell finished the game with three RBIs, while Ynoa extended his hitting streak to 17 games, going 2 for 3 with two runs and two walks. The shortstop has recorded two or more hits in six of his last eight games.
Tuesday night, the Barons scored first, in the fourth inning. Andy Wilkins hit a three-run home run with one out off of Lookouts starter Matt Magill, but that would be all for Birmingham.
Chattanooga scored twice in the sixth, on a bases-loaded wild pitch and an RBI groundout, then tied the game in the eighth on a solo home run from Luis Nunez.
Magill pitched six innings, striking out seven, but didn’t factor into the decision.
Logan Bawcom, normally a closer for the Lookouts, gave up just one hit in two innings to earn the win.
The same two teams play again Wednesday morning, with first pitch at AT&T Field scheduled for 11:15 a.m.
