Southside ArtStroll
The streets of Chattanooga's Southside get pretty active on the last Friday of every month for the Southside ArtStroll series of gallery openings, artist studio visits and hands-on creative experiences. Many of the revitalized area's restaurants, eclectic shops and other unusual neighborhood destinations extend their hours and offer special features and libations to strollers throughout the evening.

Indigo Girls in concert with Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra
Fans of the indy-rockers the Indigo Girls are in for a real treat this weekend in Chattanooga as the duo performs its very first concert with a symphony. Saturday's concert is the beginning of a multicity tour where the girls will perform with community orchestras in Dallas, Texas; Seattle, Wash.; Birmingham, Ala.; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Portland, Ore. According to Pollstar, the Indigo Girls plan to perform for approximately two hours with each orchestra, followed by an encore sans symphony.

Josh Ritter in concert
OK, let's see ... 35-year-old Ritter has been named one of the 100 greatest living songwriters by Paste magazine. He is keeping good company on that list, which also includes everyone you would expect, including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. David Letterman and Stephen King count him as a personal fave, so here is your chance to go see what all the buzz is about.

Owl Prowl at Audubon Acres
Enjoy a nighttime walk around the Chattanooga Audubon Society's bird trails. The evening program includes a short talk about common owls and how to identify their different calls. Organizers suggest bringing your own flashlight and wearing comfortable walking shoes. Registration is required by contacting ksimpson@chaas.org.

Tomato Festival
Local growers of organic, heirloom and other varieties of tomatoes will be featured this weekend at the Sunday Chattanooga Market. If you want to pitch in and help the Chattanooga Sustainable Farmers, make a small donation at the food demonstration station hosted this week by Chef Nick Goeller from 212 Market. If you leave a little, Chef Nick will let you sample some of his fried green tomatoes and gazpacho.
