PENSACOLA, Fla. — Three Pensacola pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout on Wednesday night as the Blue Wahoos defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts, 5-0, in Southern League action.

Chad Rogers (2-0) went six innings and allowed three of the Lookouts’ hits, but no runs, and he struck out six. Drew Hayes pitched the seventh and eighth and Justin Freeman mopped up in the ninth.

Lookouts start pitcher Matt Magill (9-6) held Pensacola scoreless for three innings, but the Blue Wahoos touched him for a run in the bottom of the fourth. That proved to be the only run they would need, but they added another in the fifth and chased Magill with two more runs in the sixth.

In that inning, Pensacola opened with a triple by Chad Rogers and an infield single by Billy Hamilton. Josh Fellhauer walked to load the bases, and Rogers scored on Bryson Smith’s ground ball force out. Hamilton later scored on a passed ball by Lookouts catcher Gorman Erickson.

Despite the loss, the Lookouts (26-20) maintain a half-game lead over the Jackson Generals in the Southern League North division. Pensacola (24-22) is in third in the South, two games out of the lead maintained by the Jacksonville Suns.
