A longer version of an advertisement that won the Johnson Group a national ADDY Award last year is recirculating on social media outlets, such as Facebook, and for some Chattanoogans, it is the first time they are seeing it.
“It just conjures up a lot of really good memories,” Candace Davis with the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau said. “Locals didn’t really have a chance to see it because we ran it in our target markets.”
The commercial ran in Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, Huntsville and Birmingham.
Last summer, local tourism officials said the commercial, which local company Atomic Films shot with a still camera using a unique technique called tilt shift photography, drew people to the city.
Filmmakers took still camera shots and selected parts of the frame to be out of focus. They use a special lens to do that, and it gives items in focus a “toy-like” quality, Dave Lang with Atomic Films told Nooga.com last summer.
Davis said the song was written specifically for Chattanooga, and leaders made it available for download here.
Some former Chattanooga residents said the video makes them homesick, and local residents said it makes them proud of their city.
Davis said she gets calls from people who say similar things.
“It’s two years old, but it’s great it’s coming back and people are seeing it,” she said.
