Chattanooga Lookouts outfielder Brahiam Maldonado has been selected as the Southern League Player of the Week.
Last week, Maldonado went 10-for-20 with two doubles, two homers, three RBI, four runs, a walk, and a stolen base against the Mississippi Braves and Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
The 26-year-old began the season with Mississippi but was released after 10 games. Maldonado was subsequently signed to a minor league contract by the Dodgers and assigned to Chattanooga on May 15.
Before Maldonado, Blake Smith (May 14-20) was the lone 2012 Lookout to have received the Southern League Hitter of the Week honor. Matt Magill (April 23-30, May 21-27, July 9-15) has been chosen Southern League Pitcher of the Week three times this season.
The Lookouts begin a five-game home stand Tuesday night against the Jacksonville Suns.Â
