Jake Lemmerman collected three hits and four RBI to lead the Chattanooga Lookouts to an 8-5 win over the Jackson Generals in Southern League baseball action Saturday night at AT&T Field.

Jackson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. Rich Poythress led off with a walk. Mike Zunino then ripped a double to push Poythress to third. Johermyn Chavez followed with a ground-rule double to score both runners.  Another ground-rule double came off of the bat of Kalian Sams to account for the third run of the inning.

The Lookouts countered with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Luis Nunez doubled, stole third, and came home on a James Paxton wild pitch to put the score at 3-1.

Poythress hit a two-run homer in the fifth to increase the Generals’ lead, 5-1.

Chattanooga came back in the sixth inning to take the lead. With the bases loaded and one out, Rafael Ynoa was hit by a pitch to bring home Bobby Coyle. Lemmerman then cleared the bases with a deep home run off of the center field wall.

With the game tied and Lemmerman on third, J.T. Wise hit a grounder to third baseman Nate Tenbrink, who unsuccessfully went home on the play and Chattanooga led, 6-5.

Chattanooga added two insurance runs in the seventh. C.J. Retherford led off the inning with a triple. After two strikeouts, pinch hitter Griff Erickson singled to bring home Retherford. Erickson advanced to second on the play and eventually found his way home on a Lemmerman single.

Red Patterson (7-1), who pitched two shutout innings in relief, was credited with the win for the Lookouts. Paco Rodriguez recorded the final four Jackson outs to earn his third save of the season.

The Lookouts and Generals continue their five-game series on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
