The Chattanooga volleyball team won the Country Inns & Suites Invitational, defeating USC Upstate and Tennessee Tech on Saturday to finish the tournament undefeated.
The Lady Mocs (3-0) took down USC Upstate 3-1 on Saturday afternoon before capturing a 3-0 victory over Tennessee Tech later that evening.
Junior Bridget Camacho was awarded Most Outstanding Player after picking up 119 assists during the three-game stand, and she also finished with nine blocks and 13 digs.
“I couldn’t be more excited about where we are and how well our girls played this weekend,” Lady Mocs head coach Travis Filar said. “We just keep working hard, grinding and battling for every point. We are finding ways to push through when the sets are tight. Our goal was to win our home tournament and we accomplished that, but now we have bigger dreams to work for.”
Senior Paula Pasmore, who led UTC with 77 digs, and sophomore Kasey Talley, who finished with 37 digs, five aces and 24 kills, were both chosen to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Mocs' start is the team’s best since the 2001 season, and they return to action Friday when they travel to Clemson, S.C. for matches against Clemson, Charlotte and East Tennessee State.
