Smithsonian.com highlighted the Chattanooga designers behind the city's font, called Chatype, this week.

After seeking public input, Chatype founders have created a citywide, Chattanooga-specific typeface, after raising $11,476 through crowdsourced funding via Kickstarter

The team, which is made up of Robbie de VilliersJeremy DooleyDJ Trischler and Jonathan Mansfield, launched a website where you can download the font for free on Aug. 15, according to Smithsonian.com.

And local businesses, such as the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Chattanooga's first urban winery—are using it already, according to Nooga.com archives and Smithsonian.com. The recently updated Chattanooga government website also uses the font.
