UTC professor Stan Davis died suddenly Saturday, according to university officials.

Davis was a professor in the College of Business, teaching management, accounting and performance management.

Chuck Cantrell, associate vice chancellor for university relations, said UTC was notified the day he died.

Since the news, the university has been working to make sure other professors are reassigned to his classes for the remainder of the semester.

“It is always a tragedy to lose a member of the UTC family,” Cantrell said. “On a campus such as ours, we are so connected and familiar with each other that such a loss affects us all. We offer our thoughts and support to his family.”

Stephen Anton, a Knoxville junior, said he is signed up for a class Davis was assigned to teach.

He said although he has only had one class since the news of Davis’ death, it seems the university has made the transition process fairly simple.
