Final Nightfall
Can you believe Nightfall is already on its last show of the season? The musical lineup is always top-notch, but so is the time spent hanging out with friends enjoying the urban outdoors in the center of the city. This week's show features Quiet Company. And, as the title of their debut CD suggests, Nightfall is just another place where "we are all where we belong." Be there.

When: Friday, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.
Where: Miller Plaza
How much: Free

Fall plant sale
It may still feel a bit like summer, but it is time to start planning for planting in fall. Workshops are offered at the farm during the sale, covering useful topics such as organic farming, growing medicinal herbs for an at-home pharmacy and basic composting. Purchasable plants in multiple varieties include fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers.

When: Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Crabtree Farms
How much: Free

Doggie pool party
Spend some time in the pool with one of your best friends ... the one with four legs. All dogs are allowed this weekend for a wet and wild fundraiser that benefits the homeless animals at McKamey Animal Center. There is an Olympic-sized pool and two wading pools to cool off with your canine. Organizers recommend no more than two dogs per person, please.

When: Saturday, Sept. 8, 12–3 p.m.
Where: Warner Park Pool
How much: $10 per pooch

Gallery Hop
Explore 20 different art galleries and artists' studios around downtown Chattanooga at the annual celebration of local creativity. Hopping around is encouraged and, this year, rewarded. Participants who visit at least 10 of the destinations will be entered into a drawing to win an instant art collection that includes 17 works of art and gift certificates to local galleries. You can check out what is in the collection now displayed inside AVA’s front window on the North Shore.

When: Saturday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Where: Various locations around downtown, North Shore and Southside
How much: Free

Fishbone in concert
The original "godfathers of black punk" have been making music since high school in the 1970s. Back in the day, they hung out with their BFFs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and toured with the Beastie Boys while gaining a reputation for fusing heavy metal guitars and ska rhythms with social commentary and punk ethics. Whether you were there then or not is no matter. Be there this weekend because it's free and you can.

When: Saturday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m.
Where: Downtown waterfront
How much: Free
