The Chattanooga Zoo will host Patriot Day on Sept. 11 to honor military service members and local emergency responders for their service.

All local emergency responders and current military members and veterans will be granted free admission to the zoo with a valid ID, along with three family members.

Local organizations that work with current and veteran service members will be at the zoo to distribute information and resources.

"As a community, we are grateful for the service of our local emergency responders and military members," CEO Darde Long said. "The Chattanooga Zoo is thrilled to be able to thank all of these men and women for their selfless service. It is our hope that these courageous individuals and their families will have the opportunity to step away briefly from their burdens and take some time to enjoy themselves and our many zoo animals."

Patriot Day will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, please call 423-697-1319.
