The Chattanooga volleyball team wrapped up the Kennesaw State Owls Classic with a 3-0 win over North Carolina Central on Saturday.
Freshman Lauren Gainer was named to the all-tournament team after picking up 32 kills, 14 blocks, and 32 digs.
The Mocs suffered 3-1 losses to Troy and Tennessee State on Friday, and they were defeated by Kennesaw State on Saturday morning before downing the Eagles in the Mocs’ final match.
North Carolina Central tied the first set at 21-21, but two attacking errors and kills by Gainer and freshman Sarah Batterton resulted in a 25-21 victory.
The Mocs took a 2-0 advantage in the second set, but the Eagles rallied to take a 9-5 lead. UTC reclaimed the lead with a 12-4 run, and North Carolina Central knotted things up a 18-18 before the Mocs sealed the win with a 7-2 run.
UTC completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory in the third set.
Senior Christina Teter led the Mocs’ offense with 15 kills, and junior Bridget Comacho collected 25 of the team’s 29 assists in the match.
UTC returns to action Tuesday when they host Alabama State. The Mocs are 4-0 on the season when playing at Maclellan Gym.
