The best from Week 4

Junior RB Jajuan Lankford, South Pittsburg

One week after his 120-yard, three-touchdown performance against Sequatchie County, Lankford was once again the Pirates’ go-to-guy. The 5-11, 170-pound junior ran for 213 yards, touchdown and a two-point conversion in his team’s 49-21 win over Marion County as South Pittsburg racked up 551 yards on the ground.

Junior RB Chad Toliver, McCallie

Toliver reached the century mark in rushing for the second straight week, running for 156 yards and two scores in the Blue Tornado’s 31-21 win at Father Ryan. The 5-11, 190-pounder had touchdown runs of 1 and 35 yards, and he also returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown.

Junior QB Austin Herink, Cleveland

Herink was the driving force behind the Blue Raiders’ victory over previously unbeaten Walker Valley. The junior completed 16 of his 23 pass attempts for 219 yards and three touchdowns in Cleveland’s 56-28 win. He lobbed a 77-yard touchdown pass to T.J Jones in the first quarter, and Herink threw two more touchdowns to Jones in the second.

Senior RB Justin Ware, Walker Valley

Ware finished with three touchdowns in the Mustangs’ 28-point loss to Cleveland, finding the end zone on the ground, through the air and in the return game. The senior racked up 131 yards on 11 carries, had a 35-yard touchdown run, an 85-yard kick return for a score, and hauled in a 49-yard touchdown reception.

Junior QB Jim Cardwell, Boyd-Buchanan

Cardwell didn’t have quite the rushing performance he had the week before, but the 5-10, 180-pound junior had a more balanced stat line following the Buccaneers’ 37-7 win over Grace. Cardwell went 7 of 7 passing for 95 yards and a score, and he ran six times for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
