Fire Prevention Week is a series of public education events at area schools to teach children about fire safety.

Also at the ceremony, Rick Carlson with the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rotary Club announced Lt. Terry Knowles as the Firefighter of the Year.

Knowles was chosen because of an incident that happened early in the summer of 2012 when he saved a child from drowning.

Additionally, a ceremony was held to remember the firefighters who passed away over the course of the year.
