A pair of Chattanooga players were named to the 2012 Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision All-American team. Junior linebacker Wes Dothard and sophomore defensive end Davis Tull both received national recognition from the leading outlet in FCS coverage on Monday.

Dothard was a third-team selection after leading the team with 94 tackles. He was a first-team pick last season and was on the Buck Buchanan Award watch list throughout 2012. He finished with six tackles for loss, an interception and forced two fumbles while leading one of the nation’s top defenses.

Dothard is the Mocs’ first two-time All-American since Josh Crain (2001 and 2002) and the sixth since 1977, when Chattanooga began competing in the Southern Conference.

Tull, a former walk-on from Knoxville, was named named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year and made The Sports Network’s second team after leading the SoCon with a UTC single-season record 12.5 sacks and 19.0 tackles for loss.

The 6-3, 230-pounder was fifth on the team in tackles (56) while forcing three fumbles. He’s also received All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), and was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District team.

Tull is second on the Mocs’ all-time sacks list with 17.5 through just two seasons.
