Gov. Bill Haslam plans to seek another term in the state's executive position, he said Monday.
In addition, the governor already has a pair of fundraisers planned before year's end, in both Nashville and his hometown of Knoxville. Haslam's comments on his personal plans for the 2014 race were the first he has made publicly on the subject.
"We've always intended to have a vigorous campaign," Haslam was quoted saying, in a Knoxville News Sentinel report. "I've always intended to do this, regardless of the circumstances."
Last week, Tennessee House Minority Leader Craig Fitzhugh, D-Ripley, said he was exploring the possibility of a bid against Haslam in two years.
