A new, quirky Volkswagen Passat commercial recently hit airwaves, and the company has also been recognized for its other Passat commercials.

At the recent North American International Auto Show,The One Club, a nonprofit that recognizes creative advertising, honored three VW commercials, including2011’s “The Force,”which leaders named to a list of the top 10 best automobile commercials from the past 25 years, according to a news release.



Volkswagen Passat Commercial: “Toss”

A panel of more than 70 advertising professionals and journalists picked the top 10 best auto commercials out of more than 60 award-winning entries, according to the news release from VW.

“‘The Force’s’ presence on such a prestigious list is a testament to Volkswagen’s uncompromising devotion to creativity,” Tim Mahoney, chief product and marketing officer, Volkswagen of America, said in a prepared statement. “We are honored by this recognition and look forward to building on Volkswagen’s advertising legacy of creating human stories told simply in the years to come.”

The Force” featured the 2012 Passat and mini Darth Vader, who made an appearance in Chattanooga during the grand opening of the plant.

AdWeek also named it a top commercial of 2011, and it has more than 55 million views on YouTube.

During this year’s Super Bowl, Volkswagen will have a new commercial for the fourth consecutiveyear.

The most recent VW commercial shows a father and son playing catch. The father has a unique, awkward throw that the son mimics.

The voiceover tells the consumer to pass down something their child will appreciate-the Passat.
