The Chattanooga softball team will host the annual Lady Moc RBI Club Pancake Breakfast fundraiser Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at the downtown Applebee's. Tickets can be purchased for $6 at the door, and the proceeds from the event benefit the UTC softball team.
The coaching staff and student-athletes will serve breakfast to supporters of the program, providing an opportunity to converse and interact with the team. Posters and schedule cards will also be distributed to the fans in attendance.
"This is a great time for fans to interact with our student-athletes," Lady Mocs coach Frank Reed said. "It's an opportunity for fans to meet their favorite players and, likewise with the players, a great time for them to interact with the people who show up to support them in the stands. It's an opportunity for our program to have an even better relationship with its supporters."
The Lady Mocs are coming off a 39-16 season in 2012 — a 20-2 record at Frost Stadium — and UTC's 20-2 mark in Southern Conference play tied a program-high for most conference wins in a season. Seniors Sara Poteat, Kasy Tydingco and Ninjja Suetsugu look to the lead the team to its 14th regular season SoCon title in 2013.
Chattanooga opens the season Feb. 8 in Clermont, Fla., at the National Training Center Invitational. The Lady Mocs will take on Fordham, Southern Illinois, Long Island and Virginia Tech before traveling to Auburn for the Tiger Invitational Feb. 15-17.
