Hamilton County Finance Administrator Louis Wright suffered a suspected heart attack Monday and underwent surgery at Erlanger Hospital, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported Tuesday.

Wright, who manages the county’s financial affairs, remains in care at Erlanger.

Mike Dunne, spokesman for Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, said Wright’s condition had improved but offered no other details with regards to the status of Wright’s health.

“At this time, we can say his condition has improved but continues to be serious,” Dunne said.

Wright has worked in county government for more than 30 years. His office is responsible for developing and controlling the county’s budget and portfolio, along with serving as the technical expert on bond issues.
