Two music greats will be checking into Chattanooga this weekend: George Jones plays the Memorial Auditorium on Friday, March 22, and Elton John plays the McKenzie Arena on Saturday, March 23.

John is making a return visit to the Scenic City for his 2013 tour.

Jones is currently on The Grand Tour, a farewell roadshow that culminates in November with a Nashville concert that will feature performances from everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Kid Rock to Charlie Daniels.

The two musicians hail from different genres-country for the Possum and pop and rock for Captain Fantastic-but their marks on 20th- and even 21st-century music are indisputable.

Though Jones and John may have transitioned from their wild, rock ‘n’ roll days to more sage, elder positions in the industry, the famous, infamous and little-known facts of their careers and personal lives remain fodder for fans.
