Comcast customers now have free access to 200 Wi-Fihot spots in North Georgia and Tennessee.
Crews have been installing the hot spots in waves since early this year, and Comcast leaders will be promoting and demonstrating the new service at the 2013 Home and Remodeling Expo, which is Saturday and Sunday at the Chattanooga Area Convention and Trade Center.

The Comcast hot spots in Tennessee area codes include Athens, Benton Red Bank, East Ridge, Lookout Mountain, Hixson, Chattanooga, Ooltewah, Etowah, Harrison, Soddy-Daisy and Signal Mountain.
In Georgia, the hot spots are in locations such as Rossville, Fort Oglethorpe, Chickamauga, LaFayette, Rock Spring and Flintstone.
To figure out where access is available, customers can download the Comcast Xfinity app, which is free.
The Xfinity app features a map andlocates all nearby Xfinity Wi-Fi hot spots and provides driving directions to the spots.
Leaders said that the hot spots will bring free Wi-Fiservice to tens of thousands of customers.
And noncustomers can also use the hot spots. They get two free sessions per month that last an hour.
The hot spots are offered in locations where customers work, commute, shop, dine and socialize, leaders also said.
To access the Wi-Fi, customers should look for “xfinitywifi” on the list of available networks that show on the wireless device.
Then they can follow the sign-in instructions to begin the sessions.
Leaders said that their announcement comes soon after a Cisco study that found that global mobile data traffic grew by 70 percent last year.

And that traffic will continue to increase. Comcast officials said their Wi-Fi spots will help the company keep pace with the mobile data use growth.
“People are using mobile devices more and more frequently, and they depend on staying connected no matter where they are,” Jim Weigert, Comcast vice president and general manager, said in a prepared statement. “As it has become almost a necessity for people to be able to connect online to juggle family, work and friends, Comcast is making it easier through its Wi-Fi network.”
Comcast also has partnerships with other major service providers across the country as part of a larger network that allows high-speed Internet customers from one company to access the Internet from other providers.
If customers are outside the Comcast service area, Xfinity Internet customers can look for “CableWifi” on the list of available networks.
