A new short documentary on the Tennessee State Capitol will be screened for members of Hamilton County’s legislative delegation and other local and state leaders Friday afternoon.

The film, produced by the Tennessee State Library and Archives, provides a history of the capitol building and grounds.

“The study of history is extremely important for our students,” Tennessee Sec. of State Tre Hargett said in a prepared statement. “And the Tennessee State Capitol is arguably the most historic building in our state. To better understand the state in which they live, students need to learn about the Capitol building. I am pleased that the General Assembly provided us with the funding we needed to produce this documentary and provide copies for use in classrooms around the state.”

Legislators will be provided DVD copies of the film for distribution to all Hamilton County schools. Copies will also be distributed to schools in all 95 counties.
