Merry holidays to all of my readers. I hope this season bring you good cheer, everything you wish for in terms of presents and finances, and even possibly a few days of relaxation. You totally deserve it.

My therapist said the holidays can be the “absolute worst” time to do a large-scale written reflection of the past year. She said something about (I wasn’t listening, really) embracing the coming “newness” as opposed to dwelling on everybody who died or the long list of goals you failed to achieve.

So instead of a reflection (boring), I thought it might be fun to dust off ye ole guitar and strum a few Christmas tunes for your pleasure (but mainly for mine).

These five songs-with the exception of the last song, which I improvised-are what I would consider my “favorite” songs of the season. They were recorded quickly without much thought and zero practice.

Merry whatever you celebrate. Drink something tasty. Eat a bunch of food.

“Blue Christmas”

“Mele Kalikimaka”

“O Come All Ye Faithful”

“Up on the Housetop”
