Because of the blast of cold air hovering over the Tennessee Valley that is expected to continue through next week, the Salvation Army is in need of space heaters and blankets.
“Our goal is to keep people safe and warm in their homes,” Maj. Algerome Newsome said in a prepared statement. “Everyone who shares the warmth through their gifts is showing their deep concern for those in danger of the frigid, life-threatening weather.”
The organization urges the community to consider donating new space heaters and blankets to help those needing supplemental heat in order to battle the frigid temperatures.
Monetary donations are also needed for those whose utility bills have gone up because of the cold snap. Donations can be made at 822 McCallie Ave. or online here. The Salvation Army can be reached by phone by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
