KNOXVILLE – Just an hour after the Orange and White Game wrapped up, Tennessee got news of another 2015 commitment.
Running back Rocky Reid pledged to the Vols via Twitter on Saturday afternoon, giving Tennessee its 11th commitment for the class of 2015.
“Height and weight are what are looked for in a college running back,” ESPN.com wrote in a scouting report of Reid. “Has good speed and quickness; can run away from defenders with a second gear. Has lateral agility with good acceleration into the second level.”

The 6-foot, 215-pound Reid brings size and athleticism to Tennessee’s group of running backs. He has plenty of productivity to back up his skills. He was one of the top rushers in the state of North Carolina as a junior lastyear, racking up 3,355 yards and 39 rushing touchdowns for Concord (N.C.) High School.
Reid chose the Vols over a list of more than a dozen offers, including Arkansas, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Louisville and NC State.
He is the first running back commitment and will add depth to a unit that will lose likely starter Marlin Lane after the 2014 season. Jalen Hurd is the presumed back of the future for the Vols, though coach Butch Jones likes to utilize multiple RBs and the Vols are in need of some depth at the position.
