Local officials said they are excited to hear about the distillery’s honor.

“They have created a delicious product that captures the classic taste of a MoonPie that helps celebrate theSouthern, working-class heritage shared between our brand and their family’s legacy in distilling,” Tory Johnston, vice president of marketing at Chattanooga Bakery, said in a prepared statement.

Steve Beam, owner and master distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery, said the team is honored by the award and looks forward to the momentum it will bring to the distillery.

“When we set out making MoonPie Moonshine, we didn’t do it to win awards,” Steve Beam, owner and master distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery, said in a prepared statement. “We did it to honor the heritage of our family and an iconic Southern brand, and to put a smile on each of your faces from the very first sip.”

The product was created in close collaboration with MoonPie using the cookie’s official flavor profile.

There are currently three flavors of MoonPie Moonshine-chocolate, vanilla and banana-and leaders said sales have been strong.
