Local residents can discard papers and medications Saturday at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office West Annex.

Important papers, medical documents, financial papers, tax records and other papers that need to be disposed of in a secure way to help prevent identity fraud can be dropped off at the event. At the same time, the narcotics division of the sheriff's office will collect unwanted, unused or out-of-date medications for safe disposal.

No sharp objects or needles will be accepted, and the paper shredding service is for residents only (not businesses).

Shred It, a local company, and WDEF News Channel 12 will partner with the sheriff's office for the event.

The West Annex is located at 6233 Dayton Blvd., and officials will accept drop-offs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
