Nightfall with Polyrhythmics, Opposite Box
Nightfall is officially back for a season of 15 Friday night concerts. The annual summer concert series begins Friday with Seattle-based funk band Polyrhythmics. Chattanooga's Opposite Box will open the show. Admission is always free, and music begins at 7 p.m., followed by the headliner at 8. Organizers will debut the Rock the Block party at 5 p.m. near the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Click here for more information.

26th annual Boxcar Pinion Bluegrass Festival
The weather will be perfect for this weekend's 26th annual Boxcar Pinion Bluegrass Festival at the Raccoon Mountain Campground. Created in 1990 to honor their father—Boxcar Pinion—sisters Cindy, Inez and Ruth wanted to find a way to gather friends, and celebrate the music and people their family loves. Choo-Choo Jubilee
In celebration of the famous Glenn Miller version of "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Hotel will host an all-day event Saturday with parties, live music and more throughout the complex. The day will also mark the official dedication of the 2-acre rose garden at the complex, which will be renamed Glenn Miller Gardens. Click here for more information.

Homers for Heroes at AT&T Field
Homers for Heroes features 16 local companies competing in an afternoon home run derby at AT&T Field on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit Nathan Sexton, a local father and husband who is battling an aggressive brain tumor. The derby is from 12 to 5 p.m., and only one team will win. Admission is $5 online or $10 at the door, but additional donations will be accepted during the event. Former Atlanta Braves slugger Ryan Klesko will be swinging for the fences during batting practice and signing autographs throughout the afternoon.

Undaground Pizza Party
Instead of using an online fundraising platform to help raise money, the folks at Undaground have instead decided to throw a pizza party. When it's launched, Undaground will be a 24/7 streaming online radio platform highlighting all aspects of the community and local music. The Undaground Pizza Party will take place at Revelry Room on Saturday night with music from Jesse Jungkurth and the Patron Haints, Paradiso Music, I Can Japan, Dalahäst and more.
