The annual Spring Fishing Classic will begin Feb. 17 and continue until March 5.
The Spring Fishing Classic is a nationwide celebration of the sport that includes free fishing instruction and tips, events for children, giveaways, and deals on fishing gear.
Additionally, Bass Pro Shops customers are encouraged to donate used fishing equipment to local charities in exchange for savings on new items up to $100. The used gear will be given to youth-focused local nonprofit organizations.
"The annual Spring Fishing Classic, a free event that reaches more than 7 million people, offers families the opportunity to enjoy one of America’s favorite outdoor activities: fishing," Bass Pro Shops communication manager Katie Mitchell said. "We encourage all anglers to participate in our rod and reel trade-in program, which has collected and donated about 250,000 products to local organizations that teach young people to enjoy and appreciate the outdoors."
Free fishing seminars for people of all skill levels will be offered during the Spring Fishing Classic as well. There will be a workshop for women March 4 at 1:30 p.m. and a workshop for kids March 4 at 2:30 p.m.
Next Generation Weekend will be March 4–5 from 12 to 5 p.m. and will include free activities for kids, such as photo opportunities, a craft project and a catch-and-release pond.
