The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a weeklong celebration called Diversify, which will feature pop-up markets and a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Isabel Wilkerson.
"Diversify is how the chamber is building an inclusive business community," Maria Noel, Chattanooga Chamber director of diversity and inclusion, said in a prepared statement. "Chattanooga doesn’t have anything else like this that brings together businesses representing all the different people here—from entrepreneurs to people who love the outdoors to all kinds of artists."
Diversify’s daily pop-up markets, which are open to the public, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19–22 at Miller Plaza’s Waterhouse Pavilion.
The markets will showcase small, large, rural, urban, multigenerational, multicultural and innovative businesses, as well as the nonprofits that support the community, according to a news release.
The week concludes with a luncheon and business fair June 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The luncheon and keynote address happen from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wilkerson is the author of New York Times bestseller "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration," which explores the cultural and political impact of decades of migration when black citizens left the South, according to the news release.
