Local outdoors enthusiasts will have three opportunities in July to enjoy a moonlight paddleboard excursion.
Guests will learn the basics of paddleboarding and have a chance to try out NRS products. Admission to demo day is $10.
Following the demo day, guests can sign up for a moonlight paddleboard excursion, which will begin at about 8:30 p.m. at Chester Frost Park.
The moonlight paddleboard will be $15 if you bring your own gear or $25 for a paddleboard rental. SUPkentucky will also offer paddleboards equipped with LED lights that can be rented for $50.
Only 19 paddleboard rentals are available. Click here for more information.
SUPkentucky will also partner with NRS for moonlight paddleboard adventures July 8–9 at the Ocoee River at about 8 p.m. each night.
The Ocoee events are $10 if you bring your own gear or $50 with all gear provided. A limited number of rentals are available.
All moonlight excursions are beginner-friendly. Guests who bring their own boards will be given glow sticks to use during the night.
"We do moonlight weekends often, and when we partnered with Rock/Creek for this event, they told us it would be awesome," said Heather Warman, co-founder of SUPkentucky.
Along with her partner, Aaron Koch, Warman founded SUPkentucky as a way to help introduce new people to paddleboarding. Together, they offer almost 15 years of combined experience with the sport.
Warman said that moonlight paddleboard events are incredible experiences.
"It's just such a beautiful thing," she said. "A lot of times, by the time we're coming back, we can turn off all the lights and paddle only by the moonlight. It's a magical thing … being out under the stars like that."
