All six block parties at this weekend’s Chattanooga City Celebration & Ciclovia will have activities for kids, but Kids’ Corner at Orchard Knob will be the most family-focused of the events.

The 3–5 p.m. event will be held in the Orchard Knob Elementary School parking lot in the heart of the historical Orchard Knob neighborhood.

A bike rodeo is the event’s marquee feature, intended to provide both fun and basic bike safety skills. An obstacle course will also be set up.

Other features of the children’s party include a bike decorating station, fun activities by the YMCA, hopscotch and jump rope with LifeSpring Community Health, a bounce house, and a mural wall from Chattanooga Neighborhoods Arts Partnership.

The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society and McKamey Animal Center will be on-site with adoptable dogs.

Kofi Mawuko and his Ogya World Music Band will provide the background music.

Chew Chew Chattanooga and Mrs. Debra’s Southern Fried Fish will provide food, and the Orchard Knob Neighborhood Association will hand out popcorn.

Organizers are still seeking volunteers to help facilitate all the children’s activities.

Prior to the Orchard Knob festival, other events will be held in Ridgedale and Highland Park, and at Stove Works and the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Click here and here for more on those.
