Gov. Bill Haslam announced Tuesday that he’s decided not to seek the U.S. Senate seat that Bob Corker will be vacating at the end of his term.
“The primary reason is that I want to remain completely focused on my job as governor,” Haslam said, according to The Tennessean. “I know that being a candidate for the Senate during my last 15 months as governor would be a distraction from the task at hand.”
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke also said he’s considering running for the seat. Click here to read more about that and for comments Corker made about the open spot.
