The owners of Main Street’s Slick’s Burgers have opened a Southside pizza restaurant.
“We thought with the neighborhood growing … it could use a pizza joint,” co-owner Eric Taslimi said.
Southside Pizza serves New York-style pizza, as well as salads, subs and beer. It offers pizza by the slice and 20-inch pies.
Employees went through a “boot camp” on dough making, which is a multiday process, Taslimi said.
They put much of their self-funded investment into the kitchen equipment, aiming to ensure quality products, he said.
“We really wanted to put out a great, authentic pie with an incredible crust,” he said. “Just like Slick’s, it’s really about product and customer service.”
Taslimi and his business partner, Rob Peterson, opened Southside Pizza Oct. 9. As they did with Slick’s in 2015, they’ve been letting word of the 612 E. Main St. restaurant spread organically.
The 2,000-square-foot space has a large patio, as well as indoor seating.
Southside Pizza is also offering limited delivery in the neighborhood.
Slices start at $3.75 and the whole pizzas start at $18.
Taslimi said there’s plenty of street parking.
