Anime Blast 2017
Fans of Japanese anime will gather for a three-day convention at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo this weekend. The seventh annual Anime Blast features panels from voice actors, cosplay contests, a fashion show, a dance party and fan-hosted panels on a variety of geek topics. Attendees will have a chance to meet special guests, including voice actors Robbie Daymond and Chris Patton. Cosplay artist Veloci-Rainbow (AKA Artemis) will also be there. Tickets are $45 for the entire weekend. Daily passes are also available. Click here for more information.

Roanoke at Revelry Room
Rising Americana band Roanoke brings their Nashville harmonies to Revelry Room Saturday night. The band is led by songwriters Joey Beesley and Taylor Dupuis. Known for their soaring harmonies, the duo will appeal to fans of The Civil Wars, The Lumineers and The Head and the Heart. Watch a video for the song “Jordan” below. CSO presents Veterans Day concert
In honor of Veterans Day Saturday, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera presents a free concert at Memorial Auditorium. The concert features Kayoko Dan, CSO’s conductor, along with the Lee University Singers. Guests can expect an evening of patriotic songs. Click here for more information.

Disney on Ice at UTC
Disney on Ice’s “Frozen” will visit UTC this weekend. Shows are scheduled through Sunday. Tickets start at $15. This production of “Frozen” is led by Mickey and Minnie Mouse and features special appearances by Disney princesses and princes. “Frozen” follows the story of Anna and Elsa, two royal sisters on an epic journey. Guests will enjoy songs such as “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Fixer Upper.” The track “Let It Go” will also be featured. Click here for more information.

The Chattery: Storytelling open mic
A new storytelling event encourages locals to share true stories in front of strangers. The Chattery will host a storytelling open mic at Improv Chattanooga Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Anybody can sign up to participate. The rules for stories are that they must be true, “from the heart” and five minutes or less in length. The theme for the inaugural event is “firsts.” Storytellers should tell tales based on first loves, first time doing an activity or anything else they can think of involving the theme.
