TechTown students will soon have the opportunity to use the same software professionals use to design buildings, smartphones, movie characters and high-performance vehicles.
The experience is being made possible through a partnership with Autodesk, which is the software students will be using.
TechTown Foundation board chair Mike Harrell said in a prepared statement:
We’re thrilled about this partnership because it will allow students in our area to learn state-of-the-art application software while having fun with cutting-edge technology. Autodesk software is used by professionals in STEAM fields globally, and bringing it to Chattanooga’s children will unlock a wealth of career opportunities for them as they move from school to the workforce.
Autodesk offered its full software suite to TechTown so that the kids can learn to use these programs before they enter the workforce.
TechTown will use the software in its learning partnerships, which currently serve over 400 students per month in six schools.
TechTown is a technology and entrepreneurial-based learning center that offers during- and after-school programs and summer camps.
