Tennessee State Parks offers a variety of ways to get outdoors and find adventure this new year.

One of the most popular and challenging options is the annual Adventure Challenge. You photograph yourself completing the 36 challenges in this year’s competition to earn points and possibly win prizes. Registration is free.

Though the Adventure Challenge officially started Jan. 1, you may sign up at any time of the year. You have until Dec. 15 to submit your completed challenges.

Whether you want to brave the cold or prefer a race in a warmer time of year, Tennessee State Parks also has winter marathons, summer 5Ks, bike rides, trail runs and triathlons.

If you’d rather relax than hike, bike or run, consider checking into a state park cabin or inn. Through Feb. 27, reservations for select cabins and inn rooms across Tennessee are discounted.
