An annual live music showcase highlighting the best in local music returns in 2018.

Road to Nightfall, presented by Gig City Productions, will take place at Granfalloon March 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. The finals will be March 24 at a venue to be announced.

The ultimate prize is a 90-minute headlining spot during Nightfall at Miller Plaza, presented by Chattanooga Presents. Other prizes include cash, professional recording time, a promo video, social media services and more. One guitarist will also win a custom Diamondback Stringworks guitar.


Thirty bands will be chosen to compete. The winner of each preliminary competition will receive $500.

The 2017 winner was Monday Night Social, defeating Mountain Cove BluegrassJosh Driver & the Dixieland PlayboysOver Easy and Walrus.

Past winners include Nick Lutsko, WTM Blues Band, Strung Like a Horse, Amber Fults and the Ambivalent Lovers, and Function: with a “C.”

To be eligible for the competition, bands must have at least three members, the majority of them living within 45 miles of Chattanooga.

Music must be original. Bands will be given the opportunity to perform three songs. A 90-minute set will be required of the winner at their Nightfall performance.
