The City of Chattanooga is no longer accepting glass in curbside recycling, and officials have put on a survey to get feedback on the issue.

Officials created a survey targeting people who already recycle to get feedback about other potential options.

“Recycling glass is a challenge nationwide because glass breaks down more easily when it’s collected in a single curbside recycling cart with other recyclable items,” according to the survey. “Glass mixes with those other items, making it difficult to sort and therefore reduces the total volume that could have been recycled.”
