Veteran journalist and political analyst Roland Martin is coming to speak at UTC as part of the university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

Members of the public are invited to an open forum with a Q&A opportunity on Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the University Center Auditorium.

Martin has interviewed multiple presidents, including Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and served as a CNN political analyst during the 2008 presidential election. The next year, CNN won the Peabody Award for that coverage, according to a news release.

He’s also served as the host of “NewsOne Now,” which was a daily morning show focused on culture and politics from a black American perspective.

Martin has written three books, among other accomplishments.
