Soul of Broadway Songbook Series
The Soul of Broadway Songbook Series “honors the rich history and cultural impact of theatrical and musical productions written by and about African-Americans,” according to a news release. Four installments will take place. The first is a live performance of music from “The Wiz.” Performances will be at The Camp House Feb. 2–3. Doors open each night at 7. Tickets are $15 and available here.

An evening with Scott Miller at Songbirds
A farm boy, iconoclast and hell of a songwriter, Scott Miller visits Songbirds Guitar Museum Friday night for an intimate performance. He co-founded The V-Roys in the ’90s and has continued to maintain a steady solo career with songs such as “Freedom Was a Stranger,” “Drunk All Around This Town” and “Amtrak Crescent.” His new album is “Ladies Auxiliary.” Tickets are $20 and available in advance here. Chattanooga FC vs. FC Dallas
The Chattanooga Football Club will host Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas Saturday. Season pass holders will receive free admission to the game. According to the CFC website, gates will open to season pass holders at 10:30 a.m. and to the general public at 11 a.m. Click here to view season ticket packages. The game will be at noon, and tickets are $12 in advance. FC Dallas has been a Major League Soccer team since the league’s inception in 1996. More information is here.

Scenic City Showcase at Barking Legs
Another Scenic City Showcase will be held Saturday at Barking Legs Theater. The showcase features songwriters in the round and is hosted by Americana duo Magic Birds. This month’s guests are Rye Baby, Mark “Porkchop” Holder, and Ashley and the X’s members Ashley Hicks and Matt Shigekawa. The artists will share both stories and songs. Wish Bowl at Stratton Hall
EPB fiber optics will present the annual Wish Bowl during the Super Bowl at Stratton Hall. Guests are invited to watch the game on multiple televisions while they enjoy beer and food, all to benefit Make-A-Wish East Tennessee. There will also be both live and silent auctions.
