A new restaurant delivery service will launch March 1 in Chattanooga.

Waitr is an app that lets users order from local restaurants for the cost of the food and a flat $5 fee, no matter how far the delivery is or how many meals are ordered.

The expansion comes after the business has found success in other southern states, such as Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, according to a news release.

The company is looking to hire 200 people from the area. Click here for more about that.

Dozens of Chattanooga area restaurants have already signed with Waitr, including Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint, Poblanos Mexican Cuisine, Chicken Salad Chick, Sekisui and Southside Pizza. More are expected to join in coming weeks, according to a news release.

Chattanooga already has a similar service, called Dinner Delivered.

But Waitr’s Market Development Director Whitney Savoie said the business’ technology is what separates it from others.

“From live monitoring of deliveries yielding faster door-to-door service to the unique ability to provide full-color photography of every menu item from all participating restaurants, there are a number of things that make Waitr stand out among its competitors,” she said in a prepared statement.

To celebrate the debut, the company is hosting a launch party at Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint, 818 Georgia Ave. The event is scheduled for March 1 at 6 p.m.

Attendees will be a part of a special Waitr Trivia Night and can win cash and other prizes.
